Best described as “Appalachian Jam”\, their extensive self-written catalog beautifully meshes everything from heartfelt Americana/Folk (“Amazing”)\, roots-infused honky-tonk bangers (“Cry Me A River Song” and “Queen of a Small Town)\, as well as hip-shaking psychedelic jams (“Silhouette”). With no two shows ever being the same\, Chad and the gang enthrall listeners with an unscripted yet charismatic and sonically charged performance weaving in and out of different genres\, hence the name\, “Loose Change”. \nHailing from the mountains of Alleghany County\, Virginia\, singer/songwriter\, Chad Nickell\, has been telling stories of love\, folklore\, and existentialism for the better part of two decades. After crossing paths with lead guitarist and vocalist\, Daniel Jackson in 2015\, the Loose Change was born. Shortly thereafter came Brandon “BT” Ross (drums/percussion)\, and Daniel Kuder (bass guitar\, vocals). \nVoted “Best Band” of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine’s “Best of the Blue Ridge” contest in 2021\, Chad Nickell & The Loose Change have shared the stage with many regional & national acts along the way\, including The Larry Keel Experience\, Cracker\, The Vegabonds\, The Jared Stout Band\, The Kind Thieves\, Parmalee\, Uncle Kracker\, and many more.

DESCRIPTION:$8 cover ~ \nDon’t miss this first time performance on our stage! \nMallow Hill isn’t just the street in Baltimore\, MD where founder\, songwriter\, guitarist Danny Gwinn grew up dreaming of leading his own band\, it’s now the name of his band\, Mallow Hill\, marking the beginning of that dream coming true. With a fusion of rock\, soul\, funk\, blues\, and classic rock feel\, the band is gearing up to release their debut album Love Me Good later this year. \n“Having a band named Mallow Hill was always the dream\,” says Gwinn. “I grew up on that street and learned to play guitar there.” Mallow Hill has been a long time in the making for Gwinn since he started playing guitar at 11 years old with his good friend Spencer Mills. “He turned me on to the greats like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix\,” the now 26-year-old Gwinn says. “We spent years self-teaching each other to play.” Even though they came close to starting a band together\, along with now Mallow Hill members bassist Travis Earley (whom he met through Mills) and keyboardist Mac Dignam (whom he met through mutual friends)\, it wasn’t meant to be. Their paths lead them in separate directions when they attended different universities. \nGwinn majored in entrepreneurship but when he left college in 2015\, he enrolled in an audio engineering program at Omega Studios in Rockville\, MD studying with well-known industry professionals including three-time Grammy-Award winner Pete Novak\, Jim Curtis (Radiohead\, Lou Reed\, Third Eye Blind)\, Bill Mueller (Red Hot Chili Peppers\, Coldplay)\, and Scotty O’Toole ( Aretha Franklin\, O.A.R\, Fall Out Boy). There he threw himself into learning the studio side of the business. “I got pretty good at the buttons and working the technology but soon realized I lacked the musical knowledge to really excel.” So\, he decided to learn more about music theory\, studying classical and jazz guitar. “I took that time to really develop my style and guitar playing.” When Covid hit\, he began doing less in the studio\, and felt that now was his time to get a band together. \nHe met back up with Mills\, called up Dignam and Earley\, then brought on drummer John Menefee\, but they needed a stellar vocalist. Enter Mikayla Joseph. Once they met her Gwinn knew she was the one and that day they officially became Mallow Hill. “I remember her just walking into the room and knowing this was going to work really well\,” says Gwinn. “We were all very impressed with her raw talent and voice but also with how laid back she was.” One year later\, in May 2021\, they recorded and released their first EP. Shortly after\, Mills left the band to focus on a different career path but now the quintet has an album’s worth of songs in hand.\nRecorded at The Moose House in Baltimore\, album stand outs include the soulful title track “Love Me Good\,” a classic young love story about a mismatched couple who always fight and make up but ultimately break up. It showcases Joseph’s sultry vocals to match the hypnotic rhythm. “One More Time” with its hard stops and pauses mimics the songs meaning about the nuances of flirting with someone for the first time.  It was one of the first songs that Mikayla wrote to one of Gwinn’s guitar parts.  “Keep Me Up\,” a crowd favorite about keeping the party going\, has a gritty classic rock vibe with a guitar solo to boot. “The Jam” is a funky track named after a club Joseph and her coworkers would visit to let off some steam and listen to live music while working at a weed farm called “Murder Mountain” in Humboldt County\, CA. \nCovid allowed the band the opportunity to really bond and get their sound just right. “While the world stood still\, being together helped solidify the relationship we have with each other both on and off the stage\,” says Gwinn. And it shows. With their new music in hand\, Mallow Hill is looking ahead\, hoping to play these songs to as people as they can all while having a good time along the way. “We’re just excited to keep this going and having our music connect with as many people as possible.” Music is their passion and if that can translate to the listeners and their audience\, that that will keep them very happy for a long time.

The group takes influence from Frank Zappa\, The Grateful Dead\, The Beatles\, Charles Mingus\, Phish\, The Band\, and Led Zeppelin to name a few. Desmond Jones puts on exciting and high-energy shows with a high level of musicianship and skillful improvisation. Each show\, set list\, and song is different from night to night. The group has played 800 shows all over the country and has shared the stage with bands like Papadosio\, Ripe\, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead\, EOTO\, Here Come the Mummies\, Aqueous\, Mungion\, Dopapod\, Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers\, and many more. Desmond Jones has released two EPs and three full length studio albums available on all major platforms. The band is touring in 2022 and hitting every diner along the way.

The Parachute Brigade consists of six individuals with very different musical backgrounds coming together to create music that they love. \nTheir style can be described as Indie Rock meets Folk meets Pop Rock with influences from all across the board. Their sound is driven by infectious melodies and haunting vocal harmonies that are accompanied by lush guitars\, interesting textures\, and commanding drums. \nIn 2018\, they were voted “best band in WV” by West Virginia Living Magazine\, and in that same year they were honored to perform on Mountain Stage Radio Show\, which is distributed by NPR Music. \nThe band started in the summer of 2012 as an acoustic\, harmony driven quartet\, but their sound quickly evolved into what it is today. However\, they still have the ability to go from smaller\, intimate settings to louder concert experiences. \nWhichever way you see them live\, they always deliver every performance with heart and soul and leave you wanting more.

The band formed in 2015 as a side project of Donnie Lonegan (Talking Heads) and Geath Kearnon (Blues Traveler). The duo joined forces with Stratton Moore (Percussion) and Will Evans (Guitar) in 2017. \nSexbruise? toured in this formation until 2019 when Donnie Lonegan was mauled by a bear and Geath Kearnon was crushed to death by a vending machine on the same day. John Pope(drums) and Julie Slonecki(vocals) were brought on as replacements. \nTheir shows can be described as a giant party. The tunes are memorable\, the stage presence exciting\, and the antics unpredictable. And there are snacks. Thrown from the stage. DESCRIPTION:$10 cover ~ \nWe are thrilled to welcome Lord Nelson to our stage for the very first time! \nThis five-piece Charlottesville\, VA based act has been steadily building a national fan base with their spirited live performances. Their music possesses a depth of sound that is heavily laced with rock\, Americana and soul. \nAfter several years of touring the country\, playing clubs\, barns\, festivals\, and everything in between\, Lord Nelson set out to take a batch of road tested songs into the studio\, with a very simple goal in mind: make a record that sounds like a bar show. Using a converted barn to track the record\, guitarist Calloway Jones and collaborator Ivan Barry engineered two sessions across a few weeks\, and the bones of an album were fitted into a suit. \nWith two previous studio records under their belt\, the band were looking for a way to create a calling card for their boisterous live act\, something that would bridge the gap between studio and performance. For the first time\, this record features three writers and vocalists\, with brothers Henry and Calloway Jones contributing to Kai Crowe-Getty’s set of songs. Rounding out the group are Andrew Hollifield and Niko Cvetanovich on bass\, Johnny Stubblefield on drums\, and Dave Pinto on pedal steel and harmonica. The collection of songs marks a wide range of stories and characters\, but there is a creeping lightness that settles around the edges of what could be darker themes in other hands. From car crashes\, murder\, bank robberies\, devotion\, trucks in lakes\, drug busts\, and relationships\, to hope\, triumph\, and over coming the odds\, this record engages a wide view of the human experience. \nSeeking to move through recording quickly release the album so they could get back on the road\, those plans came to a sudden halt with the pandemic\, like the rest of the world. Does the world need this music now? Will it ever see the light of day? These were common thoughts over the preceding year. Finishing vocals in blanket forts\, tracking guitars in an old farm house\, and sending to friends to record parts enabled this process to grow and change slightly with the enforced break from touring. It allowed the band to pause and take in the songs and choices with a bit more thought. It changed the work and brought a reexamination. But ultimately\, this record intends to bring people together. Dance\, sing in the car\, hum under your breath\, crank up on the stereo\, don’t take life too seriously for a few minutes. Recently Leonard Blush\nand the Camelcals has taken a bit of John’s stage time\, and he has shared the stage with Keller Williams\, members of Leftover Salmon\, members of Big Daddy Love\, and Caitlin Krisko. \nTimbo Sims\, keyboardist\, performer\, and songwriter\, of The ThrillBillyz\,  The Buck and Griz Show\, and M.C. Broom & The Jam! resides in Franklin County\, VA. Timbo is a founding member of the 90’s jam band Red Weather and has since been a part of a number of live\nperformances\, session recordings\, and musical projects. \nJohn Tice\, on drums\, has been bringing the back beat to Southwest Virginia bands like Timewave Zero\, The Buck & Griz Show\, Flight One\, and Gary & the Brewers for the last 20 years. He’s a staple in the region and involved in a myriad of projects in the area.
