SUMMARY:Donna the Buffalo
DESCRIPTION:We welcome Donna the Buffalo back to our stage!  ~\n**Vaccination card OR proof of a negative test within 72 hours prior to the show is required for all attendees. \n**Due to the ongoing Covid crisis that we are facing in our world\, Donna the Buffalo has required attendees to show a vaccination card OR proof of a negative test within 72 hours prior to the show. \nThis request is made in order to protect the health and livelihood of the individual band members\,\nas they try to return to touring and sharing their wonderful music with us. \n“We are doing our best to stay safe out on the road so that we may continue gigging…. Unfortunately\, these are the times we are living in and we are trying to continue our career”. – Donna The Buffalo  \n$20 advance tickets  •  $24 day of show \nDonna the Buffalo is known as one of the most dynamic and determined bands continuously touring America since 1989\, The Erie Times says\, “They craft spirit-soaring songs with distinct sensibilities: Nevins’ songs are unfailingly melodic\, brisk and buoyant\, powered by her reassuring\, wisdom-soaked vocals and ever-present fiddle and accordion. Puryear’s songs accentuate the groove\, his exceptional guitar work and sly\, Dylan-like way with lyrics.” \nNew Haven Register expands upon this to say\, “Donna the Buffalo knows a thing or two about rhythm. Cajun\, zydeco and old-time rhythms. A bit of reggae rhythm. Various guitar and fiddle rhythms. The rhythm of traveling by bus year after year for more than a quarter-century now\, criss-crossing America… over and over again.” \nDonna the Buffalo is Jeb Puryear (vocals\, electric guitar) and Tara Nevins (vocals\, fiddle\, guitar\, accordion\, scrubboard) joined by David McCracken (B3 Hammond organ\, Hohner Clavinet & piano)\, Kyle Spark (bass) and Mark Raudabaugh (drums). “It’s been really fun with this lineup\,” Puryear says. “You get to the point where you’re playing on a really high level\, things are clicking and it’s like turning on the key to a really good car. It just goes.” \nDonna the Buffalo drew its original inspiration from a cherished part of the American heritage: the old-time music festivals of the south that drew entire towns and counties together. Not only was it playing music at these events\, it was the vibe and the togetherness that bonded the people that attended. \n“Those festivals were so explosive\, and the community and the feeling of people being with each other\, that’s the feeling we were shooting for in our music.” Puryear says\, “Donna the Buffalo is an extension of the joy we’ve found.”\n“It’s a great feeling to promote such a feeling of community\, like you’re really part of something that’s happening\, like a movement or a positive force…” Nevins says. “All those people that come and follow you and you recognize them and you become friends with them — you’re all moving along for the same purpose. It is powerful. It’s very powerful\, actually.” \nDonna the Buffalo has released ten albums and are affiliated with several others\, including Puryear’s 2007 solo album Hopes and Dreams and a 2003 release\, Wait Til Spring\, with Jim Lauderdale. The band’s 2008 release Silverlined\, as well as the 2013 release\, Tonight\, Tomorrow and Yesterday\, (both on Sugar Hill Records) did well on the Americana Music Chart\, each placing well into the top ten. In 2011 Nevins released Wood and Stone\, produced by Larry Campbell in Levon Helm Studios\, and Mule to Ride in 1999 on Sugar Hill Records. \n“Though it will always be hard to pinpoint the key to an act’s staying power\, distinctiveness and consistency surely can’t hurt.” Pittsburgh City Paper says\, “Donna the Buffalo has carved out a niche; it has weathered trends\, and even made some of its own by being unapologetically itself.” \n“Donna The Buffalo is from central New York state\, not Louisiana\, but this widely loved quintet has woven that joyful\, hip-shaking zydeco pulse into the DNA of its sound\, and leaders Jeb Puryear and Tara Nevins have wrapped that core vibe with hopeful\, mellow lyrics.” –Music City Roots\, Craig Havighurst \n“For the dizzying array of styles and genres with which they work\, Donna The Buffalo maintain a surprising level of consistency. The New York-based band has played around with folk\, zydeco\, and many other musical ideas over the course of their.. career\, but they retain a sharp focus that has helped them create some truly lasting music.” –Elmore Magazine. \nTake a look at their official music videos:\n“Across The Way” → https://youtu.be/JqbVb2302Xs\n“Working On That” → http://bit.ly/1eXPofS\n“I Love My Tribe” → http://bit.ly/1i9fy9Q \nFor more information\, please visit www.donnathebuffalo.com

SUMMARY:The Nighthawks
DESCRIPTION:We welcome The Nighthawks back to our stage!  ~ \n$15 advance tickets  •  $18 day of show \nWhen Mark Stutso\, master of the deep groove\, joined The Nighthawks at the beginning of 2010\, the\n21st-century version of the legendary American roots band was complete. With Paul Bell and Johnny\nCastle in the band for nearly a decade\, and founding father Mark Wenner the remaining original\,\nthis team outshines all previous incarnations. \nThe Nighthawks was an idea in Mark Wenner’s brain long before he was able to implement it. The\nmusical product of pre-1958 radio in Washington\, D.C.\, he did not know there were rules against\nmixing blues\, R&B\, honky-tonk country\, doo-wop\, gospel and rockabilly into one delicious stew. \nIn 1972\, Mark\, then 23\, returned to his hometown after a New York City band apprenticeship eager to\nstart a real\, work-every-night band based on American roots music. He found a receptive local scene.\nWashington has long been a musical melting-pot of the kind that made Memphis the source point for\nthe evolution of American music in the second half of the 20th century. It just never had a Stax or\nSun record label to tell the world. As the city exploded with an influx of people from all the\nsurrounding states during the Great Depression and World War II\, Washington became a hotbed of\nmusical cross-fertilization. When Bill Haley first brought his wacky Pennsylvania mix of hillbilly music\nand rhythm and blues to D.C. in 1952\, people got it. And white kids like Mark found the Howard\nTheater – now recently restored and part of the historic top tier of the Chitlin’ Circuit that included\nBaltimore’s Royal\, Chicago’s Regal and New York’s Apollo – just a 25-cent bus ride away from the\nsuburbs. \nMark Wenner: Vocals\, Harmonica\nJohnny Castle: Vocals\, Bass\nPaul Bell: Guitar\nMark Stutso: Drums\, Vocals

SUMMARY:Celebrating Mark Proctor: An Evening of Music & Community
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a night of music\, community\, fundraising and celebration of Mark Proctor!\n3 live performances by some of Mark’s favorite local bands: \n\nJake Retting (5pm)\nFlirting with Chemicals (6:30pm)\nCC Coates Band (8pm)\n\nWe would like to establish a fund in his name\nThis is just one of the ways that we think is the best to celebrate Mark Proctor. On Friday May 14th we are dedicating a night to celebrate Mark and to establish an ongoing fund\, in Mark’s name\, to benefit local musicians who are on a dedicated path of music\, or who could use a helping hand to get on that path. Mark believed in creativity\, especially through music\, and we believe he would be honored to know his name will live on in this way. \nWe will be taking donations to establish a fund in Mark’s name that will benefit local musicians in their learning and growth. For this event\, 100% of donations will go to the Floyd local Handmade Music School: Share the Music scholarship programs – These incredible scholarships offer any person who cannot afford music learning opportunities the ability to do so by filling out a simple form requesting the funds for the program of their choice\, no questions asked. \n\nA donation Station will be on site through the night for you to make your contribution by cash or credit card. The night will be live streamed as well\, with links to donate online.\nAn online donation link will be offered throughout the live stream so that even if you cannot join us in person\, you can still make a donation in Mark’s name.\n\nDogtown will donate 20% of sales for the night if total donation goal of $2500 is reached!\n \nYou can donate online using this donation button at any time:\n\n\n\nA little about Mark…\nAt Dogtown\, there are certain community members that leave a “Mark” on our staff\, our customers\, and our business as a whole. Mark Proctor is one of them. Mark passed unexpectedly in February this year. He was a staple of our community and a long-time\, regular customer at Dogtown and ALWAYS quickly befriended our staff and our customers. His kind and warm hearted spirit had a special kind of humor that uplifted anyone he came in contact with\, young and old. He had a humble wisdom\, which he would always share with anyone who seemed interested to sit with him to talk. He loved the people of our community (old and new) and embraced them with so much respect and curiosity. He loved creativity and MUSIC – he rarely missed live music on our stage and happily showed his support for local music and the dedicated\, talented musicians who provide it to our sweet Floyd town.
